This is your opportunity to join the Redpath team at the Appin shaft project located in Menangle in Southern Sydney/Wollongong region, whereby Redpath are responsible for sinking two shafts at the Appin Coal Mine. The Appin Project has been set up using industry leading technology, and Redpath will continue these standards with excavation of two blind sink shafts for ventilation and access shafts.

Working back to back with another HSE Training Officer you will be responsible for the training, record keeping, legal compliance, coordination, monitoring and implementation of all training requirements for the Appin shaft Redpath contract

Working on 15 days on 13 days off roster, FIFO from Capital cities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver, coordinate, and continuously improve site HSE training programs to ensure workforce competency and compliance
  • Support and promote a strong safety culture through leadership, coaching, and clear communication of HSE expectations
  • Conduct and participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, inductions, and risk assessments to reinforce safe work practices
  • Monitor compliance with legislation, Redpath policies, and client HSE requirements, escalating issues where necessary
  • Identify hazards, unsafe practices, and training gaps, and implement corrective actions or recommend improvements
  • Maintain accurate training records, report incidents or near misses, and assist with investigations as required
  • Contribute to workforce development through ongoing competency assessments and refresher training

Qualifications and experience

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (essential)
  • Shaft sinking, UG mining or Tunnelling experience
  • Knowledge of safety management and systematic approach
  • Current knowledge of relevant Workplace Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation legislation
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Solid planning and organisational skills to schedule and allocate training
  • Ability to problem solve and be adaptable
  • Attention to detail ensuring all standards and compliance are met
  • A drive for continuous improvement and innovation
